SAINT DUNSTAN'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH AND PRESCHOOL
IN THE CITY OF TULSA
COMMUNITIES
Many people find the anonymity of a larger parish safe when they first begin attending.
But, at some point, most seek a community, a way to join with a group of people sharing the same journey.
St. Dunstan's hosts groups who gather all the time for prayer, study, to help others, and just for fun.
Whatever your experience, when you are ready to become involved, there is a community here for you.
DAUGHTERS OF THE KING
Magnanimiter Crucem Sustine - With heart, mind and spirit uphold and bear the cross For His Sake.
The Order of the Daughters of the King is organized as a religious order whose mission is to extend Christ's Kingdom through prayer, service and evangelism. The members are women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church, churches in communion with the Episcopal Church, and churches in the Historic Episcopate. Each daughter makes a life-long vow to live by the Rule of the Order which requires a spiritual discipline of daily prayer, service and evangelism, a dedication to spreading Christ's Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish. Because of this vow, members refer to themselves as an Order and not an organization. Bylaws prohibit fundraising.
The Order strives to create a safe place in our busy world where members can come together and support each other and their parish in Christ's love. Members are Christian women fulfilling the promises they made in their baptismal covenant. Members wear crosses at all times as an outward and visible sign that they cannot live without Christ in their life. Members of the St. Dunstan's Order of the King meet the second Saturday of each month for prayer and study.
Members are always available for prayer. For more information, contact the church office at 918.492.7140.
WOMEN OF ST. DUNSTAN'S
Some have asked, "What do the Women of St. Dunstan's do and does it cost anything to belong?"
The answer is, it costs nothing to be in this informal group and, in fact, if you are a female parishioner, you are already considered a member. We desire to serve God, each other, and the community. There are a variety of ways we accomplish this: we support the Rector's Discretionary fund, we collect canned goods for the hungry, we sponsor a student in Uganda, give funds to the Guild of the Christ Child, and we help supply the church kitchen with necessities. These are just a few of the service projects we undertake.
Also important is developing our bonds with one another through our fellowship activities. When we strengthen our bonds with each other we also strengthen our parish. In our busy, stressful lives, the fun and fellowship we have together is an important facet to our lives and faith.
All women are most welcome to join. Plan to come to our meetings and find out more!
EPISCOPAL WOMEN'S PRAYER
Almighty God, we pray that you will bless our work in mission and ministry in the world.
Make us so thankful for the power of your love, given through your son, Jesus,
that we may pray, labor and give liberally to make known that love throughout the world.
Bless us that our lives may shine forth the joy and wonder we share in your name. Amen.
GRAND PRIDE
An important community for people age fifty-five and over, gathering once a month on the first Thursday for Eucharist at 11:00 A.M., and lunch with a program from noon to 1:00 P.M. The group is informal and blooms with fellowship for men and women with grown families. Grand Pride meets from August to May in the Parish Hall. For more information, contact the church office at 918.492.7140.
MEN'S FELLOWSHIP
The Men's Fellowship group meets at 6:30 A.M. each Thursday at the church for prayer, breakfast and general discussion. The group is open to all gentlemen who wish to come and enjoy fellowship and support.
MIDDLEFITS
If so, we are the Middlefits of St. Dunstan's. We are families, couples and singles brought together to enjoy friendship and fun with an Episcopalian flair. We are here to assemble members of our church on a regular basis to socialize and interact with one another.
Our mission is to help the congregation of St. Dunstan's grow stronger and larger in faith and outreach through fellowship, worship, and service.
We encourage socialization on an adult forum as well as a family forum. Our activities range from parents night out with childcare for the kids to family picnics and game nights. If you are interested in joining the Middlefits of St. Dunstan's, contact the church office at 918.492.7140, email Chuck Forbes or call him at 918.496.3396.
OUTREACH MINISTRY
A strong outreach program is a significant part of the parish culture. Projects include Whirlwind Mission (a companion in our diocese), Angel Tree at Christmas, Meals on Wheels, Mite Box, Food Basket, Special Offerings, and Building Usage. Members of the Outreach Ministry also distribute grocery bags on the first Sunday of each month and work towards providing food for Kendall-Whittier Ministries who is the new recipient of our parish's weekly food donations. For more information on how you can help this parish outreach ministry, contact the church office at 918.492.7140.
ROUND ROBIN DINNERS
These lively small groups meet for dinner January through April in different parishioner's houses, which is a great way to meet new people for fun and conversation in a relaxed atmosphere. For more information, contact the church office at 918.492.7140.
