A Place to Begin, Wherever You Are

Faith rarely begins with certainty. Sometimes it starts with questions, curiosity, or simply a quiet sense that something more might be calling.

In this short reflection, we share how we understand the church’s role: a community where people can explore faith honestly, ask questions freely, and grow at their own pace.

At Saint Dunstan’s, you don’t have to have everything figured out to belong. You are welcome to come as you are and discover faith alongside others on the journey.

If you would like, we invite you to share a little about yourself below. This helps us get to know you, answer any questions you may have, and help you find meaningful ways to connect with our community.

If you’re feeling nervous, you’re not alone

Many people come to church feeling anxious—unsure where to go, what to do, or whether they’ll stand out. At Saint Dunstan’s, you won’t be singled out or expected to know anything ahead of time. It’s okay to arrive unsure, to take things slowly, and to simply be present.

Worship that guides you along

Our Sunday worship follows a thoughtful and consistent pattern rooted in the Episcopal tradition. Everything you need is printed in the bulletin, including cues for when to sit or stand. You’re always free to participate fully, quietly observe, or do something in between. No one will mind if you follow along imperfectly—or not at all.

Children belong here

Children are truly welcome in worship. Their presence, movement, and curiosity are part of our shared life together.

Every Sunday, we offer Rooted Together, an age-adjusted first part of the service designed especially for children. Kids begin the morning together, engaging scripture and prayer in ways that meet them where they are, and then rejoin the full congregation so that we can all receive Holy Communion together as one community. Parents are always welcome to keep children with them for the entire service if that feels best.

A community that doesn’t rush you

After worship, many people gather for coffee and conversation. This time is informal and optional. You’re welcome to linger, introduce yourself, ask questions, or head out quietly—whatever feels right for you.

A gentle and genuine welcome

When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by someone happy to help with directions or questions, or happy to let you settle in quietly. There is no dress code and no “right way” to look or act. You are welcome exactly as you are.

Music that supports prayer and reflection

Music is an important part of worship at Saint Dunstan’s. You’ll hear hymns and choral music chosen to support the scripture and season of the church year. You’re welcome to sing along or simply listen.

Holy Communion

Holy Communion is offered every Sunday. This is the sharing of bread and wine as a sign of God’s grace and love.

All baptized Christians are welcome to receive Communion, including children. If you are baptized and wish to receive, you are invited forward. If you would rather not receive Communion, you may come forward for a blessing or remain comfortably in your seat. Either choice is completely respected.

Come as you are

You don’t need to feel confident, certain, or “church-savvy” to worship here. Questions are welcome. Doubts are honored. Faith is something we explore together, gently and honestly.

If you’re looking for a church where you can breathe, belong, and take things at your own pace, we would be glad to welcome you to Saint Dunstan’s.
