A Sound of Sheer Silence

Ever feel like you're sinking and just need someone to grab your hand? This Sunday, Peter finds himself mid-storm, faltering on a wind-tossed sea — and Jesus reaches for him before the water even calms. It turns out that's not the only place steadiness shows up in the unexpected: Elijah goes looking for God in the wind, the earthquake, the fire, and finds him instead in "a sound of sheer silence."

Come hear what these two storms have to say about where God actually meets us.

Our music holds that same thread. Sibelius' Finlandia ("Be Still My Soul") frames the service in the prelude and postlude, and the offertory pairs "Be Still My Soul" with "You Raise Me Up" — a call to trust God's steadiness amid the storm.

Faithful to Christ, Embracing the Divine in Every Tradition

Starting this Wednesday, August 12, join us for a new series with Fr. Chris exploring the intersections and common ground between world religions and Christianity. Dinner at 5:30 p.m., presentation from 6–7 p.m. Everyone welcome. The series continues August 19 and 26.

Meal Kit Assembly for Street School Student Pantry

On August 16, we'll assemble shelf-stable meal kits for the student pantry at Street School — there's a task for everyone, from shopping to portioning to assembling. Sign-up sheets in the lobby list the items and quantities needed; please pay close attention to sizes, since our recipes depend on it. Bring your items to church on the 9th and the 16th, and we'll put the kits together in the parish hall on the 16th during coffee hour.

Food Bank Volunteer Opportunity

On August 18 from 6:00–8:00 p.m., we'll be volunteering at the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. It's a great opportunity to serve our community and lend a hand where it's needed most — scan the QR code in the lobby if you'd like to join us.

STCH Volunteer Opportunity

On August 21 from 9:30–11:00 a.m., volunteers are needed to greet seniors as they receive food distribution at South Tulsa Community House.
