The Vineyard Was a Gift

This Sunday's readings are about what we do with what we've been handed. Jesus tells of tenants who forgot the vineyard was a gift and tried to keep the whole harvest for themselves. Paul, who could list a long set of credentials, calls them rubbish next to what God has called him to, and he presses on anyway.

Most of us were handed something here. A pew we didn't build, a tradition someone kept alive before we arrived, a meal already on the table. None of it was ours to keep. This week is a good time to pick one thing we've been given and put it to work for someone else.
