The Son Who Went Anyway
This Sunday's readings are about changing your mind. Ezekiel speaks to people convinced they're paying for their parents' mistakes and tells them no one is stuck with the past, their own or anyone else's. Jesus tells of a father with two sons. One says yes and never goes. The other says no, thinks better of it, and goes anyway. It's the second son who did what his father asked.
Most of us have a no on the books somewhere. A ministry we passed on, a group we meant to try, a question about faith we decided was settled, a person we stopped talking to. The parable doesn't ask how long the no lasted. It only notices who went. This week might be a good time to think better of one of them and go anyway.

A Saturday morning on caring for the ground beneath our feet. Karen Watkins on beneficial bugs, Donna Horton on Oklahoma native plants, and Mary Christopher on creation care ministries. Native plants will be for sale from The Painted Prairie and Life Affirming Farms, so leave a little room in your car.
